Smoke a nargile
Burak took some of us into town to try smoking a water pipe - 'nargile' in turkish. We ordered two different flavors; apple and lemon/mint. I can't say I could really taste the flavors, but I enjoyed the social experience - sitting on low couches, drinking Efes beer, chatting with new friends, and passing the nargile back and forth. Burak was an expert at making smoke rings. He tried to teach us but we were utter failures.
PAMUKKALE
Aphrodisias
On the way to Pamukkale, we stopped to see the ancient Greek ruins of Aphrodisias. We were one of the few tour groups at the site which made it so memorable. It was a peaceful stroll through history.
The "cotton castle"
Pamukkale means 'cotton castle' in turkish. The white travertine petrified waterfalls remind me more of the tiers of a wedding cake. Hot springs supply the pools and make for a nice foot soak during wading (although the travertine is rough to walk on).
